Lives and works in Buffalo, NY
Bill Sack’s new series of autonomous mechanical machines — in which the discarded containers of music and data storage media slide, creak, and speak to themselves, each other, and us — expressing a duality of purpose and desire. The technologically complex is used to rudimentary purpose, and the hand of the artist concedes to the will of the piece itself. They are devised to recognize the presence of guests, prompting them to communicate within themselves and “perform.”
