Live and work in Cleveland, OH
Sarah Paul has been writing and performing experimental music since 1989. Her recent collaboration with her sister, Suzannah Paul, hails from a fascination with flaming smokestacks that are often found throughout industrial-based cities. Little Miss Cleveland and the Flaming Sunset #3, 2010, is a site-specific multiple projection installation that serves as a visual and musical narrative of the love affair between Little Miss Cleveland, a character Sarah Paul has been developing over the past several years, and the flaming smokestacks of an ArcelorMittal steelyard. This installation will bring to life the vestiges of industry into the Gallery space and is part of a much larger project in which Paul invites viewers worldwide to submit their own videos of flaming smokestacks. The Albright-Knox Art Gallery will also host a performance by Sarah Paul at sunset, on the occasion of the Gallery’s opening celebrations.
