The Burchfield Penney Art Center, founded in 1966 on the campus of Buffalo State College, is the only museum dedicated to the art and vision of Charles E. Burchfield and the artists of Western New York. The museum presents more than forty exhibitions and more than one hundred public programs annually placing the role of Western New York into a national and international context. The new Burchfield Penney, which opened in 2008, is the first “green” art museum in New York State.
